Pyrotechnics Training

We welcome you to the opportunity to become a Professional Pyrotechnician.

Boom Boom Fireworks works closely with Black Powder to train those interested in the field of pyrotechnics and special effects. We offer a comprehensive training program designed to take you from a novice to a competent qualified and safe pyrotechnician. The nationally recognised qualification Approved Handler Pyrotechnics level 1,2 or 3 is available to all sucessfull candidates. We assist you in gaining your Controlled Substance Licence. This is a requirement for purchasing and being in the possession of commercial fireworks product

Training consists of a two day weekend intensive. The course combines classroom theory and practical learning on location at our commercial fireworks firing site in Auckland. You will learn under supervision how to fuse, rig, design and fire a commercial fireworks display in which an extensive variety of big commercial display fireworks will be provided. A take home exam is given to all attendees to complete with all course work and manuals provided. Our course numbers are limited so we are able to provide excellent one on one training and supervision by our experienced Pyrotechnicans.

Provided on our course is one of the industries most comprehensive EPA endorsed training manuals.

Boom Boom fireworks teaches to the industry standard trainee assessment forms developed specifically to advance safety, responsibility and knowledge within the Pyrotechnic industry. On completion of day two day of the course and follow up training programme you will be eligible to gain your approved handler pyrotechnics certificate.

Continuing on the job training is offered to all trainees who successfully complete the take home exam.
